29 05 2009

No really, I may fish, I may set out crab traps, I may read, cook, eat, drink, OR I MAY JUST RELAX!!!  We are heading out of town this weekend to celebrate my brother’s 30th birthday!  We are going back to Galiano Island (see earlier post for how much we love it there) Any way I just wanted to let you all know, that this weekend, no computer will be turned on (unless it is for the endless music supply) and no email or blog will be looked at, SO if you post a comment it will not be visible until I get home Monday night.

Here are a few pictures of my sweetie for your enjoyment!  I can’t believe she is 6 months old!!!

You’re NOT Going to Believe This……

22 05 2009

Hi all, I don’t know if you have noticed but there has been nothing new on my blog for a few days!!!  Well you are not going to believe the reason why!  I went out Sunday morning over to my Mom’s place (AKA Kate from Scrap ‘n Stamp).  We had planned a Design Team get together over there so everyone could play with the `new stuff`.  Well I came home just before supper time, and was unpacking my truck, when I went to open the door to my craft room and to my surprise the door would not open!!??!!  I put down everything I was carrying, and managed to push the door open a crack, and what would you know… the desk to ceiling shelves I had up with ALL MY CRAFTING SUPPLIES had fallen off the wall.  There was craft crap EVERYWHERE!!!!  Holding back the tears I called my Hubby over to see what had happened, and do you know what he said?   And I quote “Well, I guess we didn’t hit studs after all hey Hunny??”  Ok so let this be a lesson to me, MY STUD… not so good at finding studs!!!!

Well there is a bright side to this story!  For Mother’s Day (my first ever) my Dad wanted to buy me something I really needed!  He said I should spoil myself… So after trying to book a massage at the spa with my mom and finding out that they were all booked up until the end of June, Mom and I decided to go shopping!!  Every gal loves shopping right??  We set out Monday morning with out a destination in mind, and quickly found en route to Ikea.  What does this all have to do with my craft room you ask?  Well it turns out that Dad bought me NEW SHELVES for my craft room.  I picked out some very lovely upper kitchen cabinets (with out the doors) which I must say are VERY reasonably priced.  With new cabinets in hand (or trunk in this case) we called my Hubby and Dad to see if they would be able to put them up for me…. they agreed to do it that night!!!  Do you believe it?  Mom and I raced home to clear out the craft room, we worked as fast as we could to clear the room so teh guys could work, and with in 4 hours, including a dinner break, my craftroom was revamped and better then ever!

Now as nice as it is to get all new shelving in my craft room (and let me tell you it is AMAZING!!!) the job of putting everything back into my craft room was not so great!  It took me a full 48hours, with my hubby staying home from work, to get everything back in there.  I decided that since it was all out, I may as well sift through it and see if there was anything I coulod purge.  I managed to pull out a few stamp sets I had not used in YEARS, blew the dust off their containers, and set them aside for sale on Craig’s List.  I reorganized my embellies, and sorted through my scraps, and managed to take out 2 boxes of recycling ( I recycle everything) and one large bag of garbage… I even found a brand new ink carterage for my old printer (oh well I guess that is going on Craigs list too!)

The only thing I forgot to do in my panic during the ‘exploded craft room episode’ was take a picture of the wreckage!  It’s too bad too, it was quite the sight!

Any way I thought I would share a picture of the ‘project’ I have been working on, it may not be a card or scrapbook page to inspire you, but it may inspire a little clean up, and reorganization (and inspection of your shelving)in your craft room!

Above: The new shelves!  Don’t they look GREAT??!!

Below: A few of the ‘old shelves’ revamped and this time attached to the studs!

These are UNDER the desk to utilize all of the wall space in my room!

A Birthday Card For A Friend

15 05 2009

deanna-birthdaySo here is a cute little card I made for a friends upcoming birthday!  I chose this image to represent the three of us crazy ‘monkey’s’ in my family!!!  If I had to choose, I would be the giraffe, Rob the elephant and Taryn the monkey in the tree!!  The card is super quick and simple, but looks great (especially in person).
I printed the image from Dustin Pike’s blog I believe it is one of his colouring pages.  I used my ink jet printer and printed on Satrdream paper which I bought at Scrap ‘n Stamp, the ink does not dry on this paper so I embossed the image using black embossing powder.  Next I coloured the image using my SU! markers.  I mounted the image on some Bazzill Bling paper.  I added a strip of the stardream paper behind my image and mounted the entire thing onto my card base.  I added a few Denim kaiser Craft Pearls to finish the card off.  I think my friend will see the humour in the image!  Happy 40th Birthday Deanna!

Until Next Time, Happy Crafting,

How About Those Nesties?

13 05 2009

See I promised it would not be such a long time between posts!!!

how-bout-those-nestiesHere is a card I made while playing with my Nesties!!  I am becoming VERY addicted to these little dies.  This card was made while I was taking orders for Mother’s day cards…. this one it’s self was not purchased, but it got a lot of oooh’s and aaah’s.  I used the NEW Sizzix Wedding embossing folder to textureize the background, stamped my Hydrangea and coloured it with my SU! markers, layered my Nesties and added a little ribbon and the card was complete!  Quick (except for colouring all those flowers) and easy!

Until Next time Happy Crafting!

A Card For My Mother

11 05 2009

Ok so it has been a while since I have posted anything here, but I am going to try to make a honest effort to post more frequently.  It is mother’s day today, my first one!  A sad one in many ways though, I had a wonderful day with my Hubby and Baby, but did not get to see my Mom!  Sad I know!  the only thing that makes this ok is the fact that she lives right around the corner from me and I get to see her everyday!

mothers-day-out

This is the card I made for my mom!  I used the Mimosa papers from SEI. I just love these papers, if you have not already checked them out, you must head over to Scrap ‘n Stamp and take a look.  Unfortunately the computer screen can not show off the best part of these papers, each one shimmers and shines, with glitter, embossing or an all over sparkle.  I used Bazzill cardstock for my base and layers and the Script Cuttlebug embossing flodert o add texture.  The ‘label’ is a nestabilities die, and the flourish a BassCut.  Those cute little flowers are SU! and the rhinestone brads I believe are Making Memories (but I could be wrong here).  The final two embellishments… May Arts Ribbon and two Peggy’s Pretties.  This card was a lot of fun to make, and I know my Momma will love it!!

mother's-Day-inI love decorating the inside of my cards as much as he outside!  I think it adds so much to your finished card, not to mention the smile it puts on peoples faces when they open their card and see the fun you added to the inside!

Until Next Time, and hopefully it is not so long this time,

Happy Crafting!
